Rally to protect Ashraf.

Rally and Press conference in London to prevent another attack on Ashraf - December 15 at 11:30 am - Whitehall opposite Downing Street

On Tuesday, 15 December 2009, simultaneous with a threat by Iraq to forcibly displace Iranian Resistance members from Camp Ashraf, MPs, legal experts and human rights activists will hold a press conference opposite Downing Street in London to press for urgent intervention by the British government.

As Iranians escalate their anti-government protests, the regime has heightened its pressure on Iraq to conspire against residents of Camp Ashraf.

Last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki vowed to forcibly displace Ashraf residents to southern Iraq this Tuesday, an act which would violate their rights "protected persons" under the Fourth Geneva Convention and breach the "principle of non-refoulement".

Iranian relatives of the residents in London have held a rally outside Downing Street since Friday and will continue to rally there from 11.30 to 13.30 every day. They fear that an attempt by Iraq to forcibly displace their relatives will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe far larger than the deadly attack on Ashraf in July.

Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, who chairs the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom, will be speaking at the press conference. other speakers TBD.
